Seamless Tile Technique 3 - Creating tiles freehand or using objects

Follow the links for related tool tips

[1]  First a selection of different sized spheres were created as objects/layers. These can be copy>pasted onto the main canvas as required.

[2]  Arrange them to fill a central area roughly filling a diamond shape on the canvas, taking the objects out to the centre of each edge.

[3]  Merge the object/layers down into the canvas. Then offset 50/50.

[4]  Next, the blank area can be filled with a selection of more spherical objects (this might take a bit of fiddling around). When happy, merge these down into the canvas

[5]  Test the overall pattern of the finished tile by offsetting 50/0 or 0/50 and then 50/50 again.

[6]  This technique can also be used to create hand drawn tiles. Here, a crazed pattern is drawn in the centre roughly filling a diamond shape.

[7]  The image is then offset 50/50 and the remaining blank canvas drawn in.

[8]  As before, the finished tile needs to be offset 50/0 or 0/50 and then 50/50 just to check for any flaws.
