Applying Effects To Seamless Tiles

Follow the links for related tool tips

[1]  As an example we'll take the 192x192 pixel tile produced in 'Seamless Tile Technique 3'.  Copy>Paste the tile four times to a canvas exactly twice the size of the original tile. Position them to line up and fill the entire area.

[2]  After merging all four layers/objects down into the background a variety of filters can be applied such as gaussian blur, embossing etc. Here, gaussian blur has been applied.

[3]  This was followed by a lighting effects 'bump' which achieves a nice knobbly surface. When finished, the image must be cropped back to its original size (192x192) to tile perfectly.

[4]  Left, the original tile. Right, the finished tile with effects applied.
